Human Rights Must Be Integral to Security Issues, Tatoyan Says

Human rights must become an inseparable part of the state-political agenda regarding border security issues. This was stated by Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan on his Facebook page.

The rights to life, dignified and safe living, free movement, property, privacy, and other rights should be the basis for state-political decisions.

Security issues should not be separated or removed from the everyday life concerns of citizens, particularly those living in border areas. It is essential that politics does not overshadow human rights.

If we continue to ignore human rights, we will further damage our security with irreversible consequences.
