Discussion on My Step Members Who Refuse to Join the No-Confidence Vote Against Marutyan Held with Pashinyan
In the Yerevan City Council's My Step faction, there have been opinions voiced by members suggesting that those who do not support the political decision to declare a vote of no confidence against Mayor Hayk Marutyan should resign their mandates.
In an interview with Factinfo, the head of the My Step faction in the city council, Armen Galjyan, stated that opinions have been expressed by faction members, including himself, indicating that they consider it appropriate to resign if they cannot support the political decision, allowing for others to take their place who will uphold the decision.
“There have been no demands or anything of the sort. These are just opinions expressed by faction members,” noted Armen Galjyan.
In response to Factinfo's question about whether the issue of resigning their mandates was raised during the meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Galjyan confirmed that the issue was discussed, but it was not proposed by Pashinyan himself. Thus, it was confirmed that the question regarding the My Step members opposing Pashinyan's political decision was also discussed during a meeting with the Civil Contract office.
Galjyan also mentioned that besides the candidacy of Hrachya Sargsyan for the position of mayor, no other candidates are being discussed.
It should be recalled that an extraordinary session of the Yerevan City Council will be held on December 22 to address the agenda of the no-confidence vote against Hayk Marutyan.
