21-Year-Old Driver Crashes GAZ 3102 into Concrete Barrier, Ends Up Upside Down in Agstev River
Today, December 19, a tragic car accident occurred in the Tavush region. Around 7:30 AM, 21-year-old Anushavan Gevorgyan, a resident of Tavush, was driving his VAZ 3102 vehicle on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway at the 135th km mark, heading toward Ijevan, when under still unknown circumstances, he veered off the road, collided with a concrete barrier, and flipped upside down into the Agstev River.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, as a result of the accident, A. Gevorgyan died on the spot. His body was retrieved from the vehicle by the emergency rescue service's Ijevan Fire Brigade No. 62, using special ropes.
Currently, officers from the 2nd platoon of the 4th company of the Road Police, senior inspectors Haik Meliksetyan and Hambardzum Chobanyan are on site, awaiting the arrival of a recovery crane to recover the vehicle from the river. By the order of the investigator, the car has been moved to a secure area of the Ijevan Police Department.
