Roman Abramovich Purchases Russia's Most Expensive Private Jet Worth $350 Million
Businessman Roman Abramovich has acquired Portuguese citizenship. The oligarch received this citizenship by presenting himself as a descendant of Sephardic Jews, according to kommersant.ru.
“Mr. Abramovich became a citizen of Portugal earlier this year, thanks to the Portuguese return law, which allows Sephardic Jews (immigrants from Spain and Portugal) and converso Jews (those who were forcibly converted to Christianity) to obtain Portuguese citizenship,” the source reported.
According to the source, Roman Abramovich has long researched his family history and discovered that part of his family came from Portugal.
In addition, kommersant.ru reports that Roman Abramovich has purchased a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner worth $350 million, the most expensive private jet in Russia to date. There are no such jets in Russia, and globally, all airlines combined operate only about 250 units.
Such aircraft are rarely used for personal purposes. The jet can carry only 50 passengers and has a flight range of 18,418 km.
