Armenian Contestant among Favorites: Over 3.5 Million Views and Absolute Leader at ‘Junior Eurovision 2021’

At the ‘Junior Eurovision 2021’ international song contest, Armenia's 14-year-old Malena is among the favorites. Her song “Qami, Qami” has garnered over 3.5 million views on the contest’s official YouTube channel, making her the absolute leader.

According to several international media outlets, Malena is the most likely winner of the contest. The 14-year-old singer expresses the positive aspects of her freedom in her song. On stage, she performs with a dance troupe.

Another strong contender is Russia’s representative, Tatyana Mejentseva, who will sing “Mon ami” (My Friend) in three languages: Russian, English, and French. She also represented Russia in 2019, finishing in 13th place. Her music video has over 2.1 million views on YouTube.

Interestingly, it was announced today that Mejentseva is experiencing vocal issues due to a cold.

Completing the top three favorites is Polish singer Sara James, who will perform the song “Somebody.” This is Sara's first time participating in the contest, but she is quite well-known in her home country. Her music video has 2.4 million views on YouTube.

The online voting continues on the official website of ‘Junior Eurovision’. Currently, the Polish contestant is leading, followed by Malena in second place. The Russian participant is in fourth place.

In third place is a French singer named Enzo, although his music video has only 350,000 views.

This year, the ‘Junior Eurovision 2021’ international song contest is being held in Paris, featuring representatives from 19 countries. The final phase will start today at 19:00 Yerevan time, which can be watched live on the Public Television Company. Before that, at 18:30, a documentary titled “Malena: Against the Wind” will be aired on Public Television.
