Netherlands Imposes Lockdown Due to Omicron Variant Starting Today
The Netherlands is implementing a lockdown from December 19 to January 14 due to the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, announced acting Prime Minister Mark Rutte.
“The Netherlands will enter lockdown starting tomorrow. This was unavoidable. The Omicron variant is spreading faster than we expected,” Rutte said during a press conference.
According to him, the lockdown will take effect on December 19 and will last until January 14. During this period, all bars, restaurants, certain shops, cinemas, theaters, museums, and gyms will be closed.
Earlier, it was reported that a state of emergency had been declared in London due to the rise in infections from the Omicron variant.
