Tell of a Deceitful Sabotage Attempt: Yerevan City Council Member Vahe Gevorgyan
Yerevan City Council member Vahe Gevorgyan has made new revelations on his Facebook page. Below is his post:
Greetings! Let me tell you about a deceitful sabotage attempt aimed at what is perhaps the most eagerly anticipated change for Yerevan residents. This concerns the purchase of 211 new buses, which required a decision from the council in February of this year. Just the night before the meeting, it became clear that an attempt was being made to sabotage the purchasing process by ensuring that some members would not attend the meeting, thereby preventing a quorum and disrupting the acquisition of new buses. This would mean that residents would not only be deprived of new buses but would also face catastrophic issues within the transportation system.
The sabotage attempt involved calling council members to ensure they would not attend the meeting, and on the day of the meeting, efforts were made to remove people through phone calls. However, those lacking integrity, ambition, and professionalism seemed unaware that even if the purchase were to fail, they would still be responsible, not due to the mayor's absence but because of their own actions. Notably, both council members and individuals from outside the city administration participated in organizing this infamous sabotage, and names have been identified.
Thanks to significant efforts, the meeting was held. During the night, the mayor and several council members counted one by one to see how many would attend. As they say, we ensured the quorum was met.
Later, as the buses began to arrive in Yerevan, some of those same sabotage participants bragged about it online, accumulating likes. Dear Yerevan residents, is there a greater betrayal than when council members, party affiliates, or officials prioritize personal and party interests and revenge over the city's welfare, thus endangering the strategically important transportation system? This fact alone should make it clear to you what this process entails.
