Post-Election Deal: We’ll Make You Mayor in Parakar, You Help Us in Vanadzor

The newspaper "Hraparak" reports that "It seems that the ruling Civil Contract party and the Living Country party have reached an agreement in Parakar. We have learned that the parties who gained seats in the council have agreed that the candidate from the Living Country party will be elected as mayor, while the ruling party's candidate will take the deputy position. In return, the government proposed a deal to the Living Country: we’ll make you mayor in Parakar, you help us in Vanadzor, so that Mamikon Aslanyan does not get elected.

The authorities’ primary goal is to prevent Aslanyan from becoming mayor. They found it easier to relinquish Artsakh than to give up the mayor’s chair. This is likely why the Living Country party has been so quiet in Vanadzor. Apparently, all parties who gained council seats, apart from the Homeland party, will participate in the process of taking power from Aslanyan in Vanadzor.
