Pashinyan Gave Marutyan Time, But the latter Did Not Comply: ‘Hraparak’

The newspaper ‘Hraparak’ reports: 'Yesterday, although 43 out of 65 council members joined the initiative to express no confidence in Hayk Marutyan, sources close to Marutyan have revealed that he is quite calm and believes that a significant majority will vote against this initiative in a secret ballot, thus thwarting Pashinyan‘s initiative.

He believes that many signed out of fear of Pashinyan, and even if some are against his remaining in office, they are even more opposed to his first deputy Hrachya Sargsyan becoming mayor. Marutyan is currently negotiating with council members to ensure they do not comply with Pashinyan's orders during the secret voting. Notably, if the no-confidence initiative fails, then, according to the law, the council will be deprived of the right to initiate such a motion for a year.

However, those from the ruling party are confident that if Pashinyan is determined to get rid of Marutyan at all costs, he will instruct to photograph the ballots, as is mandated during secret votes in the National Assembly, and present them as proof of loyalty. Interestingly, our sources have reported that six months ago, when Pashinyan received Hayk Marutyan at the government residence, he stated that he was giving him time until December to 'resolve the broken relationships with the team, restore membership in the ruling party, publicly support the government, and so on.' However, even after June 20, Marutyan did not comply. Now Pashinyan’s patience has run out; he first published an article against Marutyan and then instructed to begin the process.'
