How and Under What Conditions Did Azerbaijanis Enter Areas Under Armenian Control: Tigran Abrahamyan

Member of the National Assembly's 'Honorary Duty' faction, Tigran Abrahamyan, shared a photograph on his Facebook page showing the defacement of the flag of the Republic of Artsakh on the wall adjacent to the famous tank monument in Shushi.

"At the wall adjacent to the famous tank monument in Shushi, the flag of the Republic of Artsakh was once depicted, which has been desecrated under unknown circumstances. Given that the contact line with the Azerbaijanis passes just above the monument, it can be assumed that Azerbaijanis have carried out a diversionary infiltration, cleaned the painted flag from the wall, and retreated. This issue raises at least two questions that need clarification. Who is the author of such an act, and how and under what conditions did they manage to descend into an area under Armenian control? It is presumed that the provocation was carried out by Azerbaijanis, but besides the desecration of the Armenian symbol, it shows the vulnerability of Artsakh's security, as the incident occurred in an area under Armenian control, near the Stepanakert-Shushi highway segment.

Under conditions of having such a neighbor as Azerbaijan, similar atrocities are unfortunately expected; however, our task should be to prevent Azerbaijani provocations by all possible means, including diversionary infiltrations. This means establishing a flexible system for securing communications and borderlines, new solutions, and measures specific to the situation, the quality of which is still far from being satisfactory," Abrahamyan wrote.
