EU Approves Use of Pfizer's Covid-19 Pills

The EU regulatory body for pharmaceuticals has authorized the use of Pfizer's Paxlovid tablets against COVID-19 prior to official approval of the product. This information was stated on the regulator's website.

The authorization is granted as an extreme measure to curb the wave of the Omicron variant. The pills are intended for the treatment of adults who do not require supplemental oxygen and are at high risk for severe disease progression. Their use is not permitted for pregnant women.

It is also noteworthy that on Thursday, Denmark approved the use of Merck's Molnupiravir tablets for COVID-19 treatment, becoming the first in the EU to do so.
