Cavusoglu on Yerevan-Istanbul Flights

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu spoke about the initiative aimed at normalizing relations with Armenia during a press conference following his meetings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Ermenihaber reports on his statements.

Cavusoglu asserted that Turkey and Azerbaijan have been continually sending positive messages since the war, adding, "The proposal made by Azerbaijan to sign a comprehensive peace agreement with Armenia is particularly important. This also shows our and Azerbaijan's goals and approach."

He also announced that Turkey wishes to see joint projects in the region that will bring peace, stability, and economic growth. In this context, he discussed the resumption of flights between Turkey and Armenia, stating that both Armenian and Turkish airlines have already applied for the implementation of Istanbul-Yerevan flights. "These applications are being examined by our Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation. We have a fundamentally positive attitude towards them. In the coming days, it will be announced which companies can operate the flights," said Cavusoglu. He expressed hope that Armenia would take important steps towards peace and tranquility in the region.
