U.S. Secret Unit Operations in Syria Have Caused Civilian Casualties, Says Former Pentagon Advisor

U.S. secret unit operations in Syria have led to civilian casualties, sources for The New York Times report, according to Коммерсантъ. Former Pentagon and State Department advisor Larry Lewis stated that the number of casualties exceeds by ten times those during similar operations in Afghanistan.

The special unit, known as Talon Anvil, operated from 2014 to 2019. The unit occasionally involved less than 20 personnel coordinating U.S. military strikes. Approximately 112,000 bombs and missiles were launched against ISIS with their involvement.

Talon Anvil managed convoy operations, command centers, booby-trapped vehicles, and terrorist squads.
