Prosecutor's Office Appeals Decision to Release Sukiasyan's Brother on Bail

The Prosecutor's Office has appealed the decision to release Robert Sukiasyan, brother of National Assembly deputy Khachatur Sukiasyan, on bail of 55 million drams to the Court of Appeals. This was stated by Gor Abrahamyan, advisor to the Chief Prosecutor, in an interview with "Hraparak".

“Bail has been applied, which the Prosecutor's Office does not agree with, and they have filed an appeal to overturn the decision of the First Instance Court regarding the application of bail and to apply detention as a measure of restraint; however, the appeal has not yet been heard,” Abrahamyan noted.

It is noteworthy that Robert Sukiasyan has been charged under Article 258, Part 4 of the RA Criminal Code (hooliganism committed with the use of weapons or objects used as weapons).

According to a statement from the Investigative Committee, during a traffic incident, Robert Sukiasyan got into a dispute on Amiryan Street in Yerevan with his acquaintance's wife, following her being signaled at and insulted by Narek Karapetyan. The individuals involved exchanged insults and physical blows.

Robert Sukiasyan first struck N. Karapetyan in the face with his head and then with his fist, after which he fired two shots from his legally owned 9×17 caliber BROWNING combat pistol towards Karapetyan's legs. Subsequently, according to the official statement, Sukiasyan also fired a shot at Narek Karapetyan's friend, causing a gunshot wound to the right tibia, before fleeing the scene.
