3700 People Left Homeless Due to Floods in Brazil
Seven people have died and 175 individuals have sustained varying degrees of injuries in Brazil due to heavy rains and subsequent flooding, reports RIA Novosti citing the UOL portal.
"Five people have died in the southern part of Bahia province as a result of the rains, leaving 3700 people homeless. In total, the severe weather has affected 70,000 people. The number of injured has reached 175," the media outlet notes.
The torrential rains caused by a cyclone have led to some of the worst flooding in recent decades. In Minas Gerais province, two people have died, and nearly 2000 individuals have lost their homes. About 15,000 residents in this province have been affected by the natural disaster.
