What Was the Situation on the Border Last Night: Details

Yesterday, the Ministry of Defense of Armenia issued a statement that on December 9, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units once again resorted to provocations, starting from 16:25, opening intense fire with various calibers of small arms towards Armenian combat positions located in the Gegharkunik region along the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The Armenian side responded with counteractions. As of 17:00, the exchange of fire was still ongoing. Later, the Ministry of Defense issued another statement regarding two injured from the Armenian side.

ArmDaily.am established contact today with the heads of several villages and communities in the Gegharkunik region to find out when the shooting stopped and how the night passed in the border communities.
“The firing stopped at 19:00, we did not hear any more sounds, and afterwards it was peaceful,” said Vazgen Asatryan, head of Norabak, in an interview with the publication.

Contact with the head of the Geghamasar community in the Gegharkunik region could not be established, as their phone was turned off.
However, in Verin Shorzha, no shots were fired yesterday. “Everything was peaceful, those shots were not near us,” said Artyom Yeranosyan, the head of Verin Shorzha.
There were also no shots in Kut.
