Weakness and Loss of Appetite: Key Symptoms of the Omicron Variant

The deputy director for clinical work at the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology in Moscow, Dr. Tatyana Ruzhentseva, highlighted the main symptoms of infection with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus in an interview with RIA Novosti. These symptoms include body weakness, fever, headache, cough, and loss of appetite.

Ruzhentseva warned that these symptoms may be accompanied by damage to the lungs and other organs, which are characteristic of coronavirus infection. "At this moment, there is limited information on the specific manifestations of SARS-CoV-2 caused by the new variant. But we will have new information soon," said the doctor.

Meanwhile, virologist Sergey Netesov, head of the laboratory of biotechnologies, microbiology, and virology at Novosibirsk State University, noted that symptoms characteristic of the new Omicron variant of the coronavirus could also include sore throat, runny nose, and frequent sneezing.
