Those Who Created Conditions for Captivity Must Be Held Responsible: Seyran Ohanyan

According to the regulations in the Armed Forces, it is stated what rights, obligations, and responsibilities soldiers have even during combat operations. It is emphasized that soldiers must fulfill their duties to the end, the leadership must ensure the execution of these duties, and the conditions for captivity are specified. Seyran Ohanyan, the head of the 'Armenia' faction, mentioned this during a press conference with journalists on December 10.

‘In this reality, it is necessary to investigate the conditions under which soldiers found themselves in captivity. First and foremost, it is a moral norm that those individuals in the state and military management system who created these conditions for captivity must be held accountable. The investigation must first focus on those responsible for creating conditions that led to people being taken captive,’ Ohanyan stated.

In response to the comment that five Armenian captives had ended up in prisons in Armenia from a Baku jail, Ohanyan noted that everything should remain strictly confidential. ‘The overall processes should not be diverted in that direction,’ he said.

‘Today, as we analyze the existing situation, we have a large segment of the population that is captive to one individual's incompetent governance, and we have one individual—the head of the government—who is captive to Aliyev, acting under his will and pressure,’ Ohanyan added.
