Russian Defense Ministry Issues Statement on Work in Shusha Region

Russian peacekeeping forces have ensured safety during the road rehabilitation works in the Shusha region of Nagorno-Karabakh. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry.

It was noted that, at present, a 15 km stretch of road along the line of demarcation in Nagorno-Karabakh has already been restored under the safety measures of humanitarian response specialists. Overall, there are plans to restore a road with a total length of 30 km.

This road will serve both the local civilian population for safe movement between settlements and the peacekeepers to establish new patrol routes. The construction work on the road is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

It is reminded that on November 9, the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan reached an agreement regarding the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, and a statement was signed transferring seven regions of Artsakh, Shusha, and Hadrut to Azerbaijan, except for one village, as well as villages in the Askeran and Martuni regions and the villages of Talish and Mataghis in the Martakert region.
