Prosecutor Demands Conviction of Former MP Murad Muradyan's Son

ArmLur.am has learned that the Prosecutor General of Armenia, R. Manukyan, has appealed the verdict concerning former MP Murad Muradyan's son, Nver Muradyan, to the Court of Appeals of Armenia. Specifically, it has been reported that the prosecutor is requesting the appellate court to accept the appeal, annul the ruling of the first-instance court of general jurisdiction in Yerevan, and recognize Nver Muradyan guilty under the second clause of part three of Article 258 of the RA Criminal Code, imposing a fine of five hundred times the minimum wage.

Recall that Nver Muradyan, the son of former MP Murad Muradyan, has been accused of committing hooliganism accompanied by violence against a person and resisting representatives of power and other individuals disrupting public order on August 14, 2019, near 1 Northern Avenue in Yerevan, and at 90 Simon Vratsyan Street near the Central Department of the RA Police.

The news agency noted that Nver Muradyan did not recognize the charges against him and testified to law enforcement that on the day of the incident, he was at the "Huka Man" club with his guests, and as he was intoxicated, he had requested his friends to come and drive his car. Armen Ghazaryan /Pzo/ was not among his guests but was seen later at the Central Police Department. He stated that he had no disputes with anyone at the club, and although the song "Dolya Varavskaya" played at the club, he did not order it and ruled out the possibility of a dispute regarding song orders.

After escorting his guests out of the club, he saw a group of people outside and, out of curiosity, wanted to approach and understand what was happening, but his friends convinced him not to come closer. He did not pull or hit anyone outside, nor did he shout any insults. He then remembered that he had left one of his two phones at the bar and returned to retrieve it before eventually leaving. It was then that officers from the patrol service first approached him that day, and without applying handcuffs, took him into custody at the Central Police Department. He felt disturbed about the detention as he did not understand the reason for it. In the department, he shouted insults, which he feels uncomfortable about, but the reasons for such behavior are understandable from the video recorded there.

He does not recognize the charges against him, stating that he did not hit anyone and did not engage in hooligan actions on Huysisyan Avenue. Furthermore, it became known that the case had entered court, and the court in Yerevan found Nver Muradyan guilty of the act prescribed in part one of Article 258 of the RA Criminal Code and exempted him from criminal liability due to the statute of limitations.
