17-Day-Old Baby Transferred to Yerevan in Critical Condition via Ambulance

The emergency response team from Muratsan University Hospital today transferred a 17-day-old baby diagnosed with bronchiolitis from Meghri to Yerevan in a critical, oxygen-dependent condition. This was reported on Facebook by the rector of Yerevan State Medical University, Armen Muradyan.

According to Hrant Kalenteryan, the head of the Pediatric and Neonatal Resuscitation Clinic, the baby is under the supervision of university doctors and is receiving comprehensive treatment, including oxygen therapy, inhalation therapy, and antibacterial therapy.

It’s noteworthy that Muratsan University Hospital’s mobile intensive care units are dispatched to the most remote areas, regardless of weather conditions, to provide emergency care to newborns in critical condition by overcoming challenging terrains. Thanks to their transfer to the medical center, nearly 92% to 96% of cases achieve successful outcomes in saving the lives of infants in need of medical assistance.

Through the emergency service, over 800 newborns are transferred annually from various maternity hospitals in Armenia to the Muratsan hospital complex. All advanced technologies for the treatment of newborns are implemented in the Pediatric and Neonatal Resuscitation Clinic.

Additionally, as of November 1, 2021, a total of 45,166 children have been treated at Muratsan University Hospital, of which 13,362 required inpatient care.
