‘What, slaughter, kill, eliminate our children?’ Opposition MPs meet with relatives of captives and missing persons

Members of the opposition Armenia bloc, Elinar Vardanyan, Asprom KRPeyan, and Anna Grigoryan, met with relatives of captives and missing servicemen near the entrance of the National Assembly. Arsen Ghukasyan, a relative, expressed that after the statement made by the Speaker of the National Assembly, they understood that it was a direct message to Azerbaijan.

“I need my child, I don’t need a position. Alen Simonyan sent a message to the Turk, saying we have no captives — what, slaughter, kill, eliminate our children? He is giving Azerbaijan a request, saying take my child as a gift, handing over our children to the Turk,” he stated.

The relatives announced that they are being intimidated, being told that their boycotts and protests are seen by the enemy, but they will continue to fight. “Our women and men will stand for the return of our Western Armenia and Artsakh. We, the mourning parents, have dignity and will stand until the end.”

Asprom KRPeyan agreed and noted they would work together. According to the MP, they have demanded clarification on whether Alen Simonyan’s statement represents the official position of the political team or not. “So far, we have neither confirmation nor denial, and in the absence of a response, we are inclined to interpret this as their official position; they believe there is no issue regarding captives,” he added.

Relatives report that parents are unable to enter the building and suggested that MPs boycott the sessions, while they themselves would block the parliament from the inside and paralyze its work. The MPs promised to present the observations in parliament and inform about further steps.

It should be reminded that since the release of a video featuring Speaker of the National Assembly Alen Simonyan, relatives of captured, fallen, and missing servicemen have stood up for the second day. Today, they gathered near the entrance of the National Assembly.
