Former Minister to Sue Yerevan Municipality Demanding Retraction of Statement

The former Minister of Justice, Hovhannes Manukyan, has responded on his Facebook page to a statement issued by the Yerevan Municipality, which called for the halt of construction at Aygestan 12.

"Today, the Yerevan Municipality released a statement urging the cessation of some illegal construction and linking it to my name. Essentially, without addressing the facts contained in the statement and their lack of relation to reality, I declare that I have instructed my lawyers to prepare a relevant lawsuit to demand the retraction of apparent defamation and baseless statements that do not correspond to reality," he wrote.

"At the address 8 Aygestan Street in Yerevan, unauthorized construction work on the reconstruction of the residential building’s roof has been carried out without the necessary urban planning documents since September of this year. Furthermore, since the end of November of this year until now, unauthorized construction of a two-story building is also taking place at the same address. According to acquired verbal information, after the death of G. Manukyan, the unauthorized construction work at this address has been initiated, organized, and carried out by his son—former President of the Court of Cassation of Armenia and former Minister of Justice, Hovhannes Manukyan," the statement from the Yerevan Municipality mentioned.
