VIDEO. You will be defeated for the next 50 years, Simonian to the opposition
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, responded to a statement made today in the Parliament by opposition MP Aregnaz Manukyan. "I constantly hear my name being mentioned in the office outside the chamber. I said I would come and not leave anything unaddressed, greet our colleagues, and clarify certain issues. I don't think it would be a lie to say that the people of Armenia are tired of household and non-political speeches. I believe they are tired of us tearing each other apart here in various ways," said the Speaker.
Simonian did not respond to the statements of his opposition colleagues, stating that they mostly have a "demagogic nature." Referring to Aregnaz Manukyan's speech, Simonian reminded that he had long ago answered all the raised questions. "Ms. Manukyan will have to prove what she said in court; otherwise, she will pay a fine and disprove her statements regarding my person because they are complete lies," he said.
Alen Simonian called for staying in a constructive field; otherwise, one by one, sentence by sentence, he would mention everything that perhaps everyone knows about our main heroes, our opposition colleagues, our political figures, former presidents, and their entourages. "Don’t force me to enter that field, in which case you will be defeated for the next 50 years," said the Speaker.
Aregnaz Manukyan had stated today that after the change of power, the affairs of Alen Simonian and his family improved. "His brother became the director of 'Euroasphalt' company in July 2020, and since then, that organization, happily by coincidence, has started winning asphalt tenders and getting rich at the expense of the budget," said the MP. She also mentioned that recently, in an interview with a pro-Turkish website, Alen Simonian justified that a campaign was being organized against him because he has effective meetings abroad and establishes excellent relations with the Russian Foreign Minister. "What the excellence of those relations is was revealed three days ago when the Russian Foreign Ministry accused him of referring to the imaginary, that is, the non-existent 'Lavrov Plan'," the opposition MP noted.
