Video: You Again Insist, Don't Interrupt, We Are Negotiating What We Want - Ohanyan to the Authorities

The authorities still do not address the crucial issues of demarcation and delimitation today, stated Seyran Ohanyan, the leader of the "Armenia" faction, while presenting a draft statement on the "Issues of Demarcation and Delimitation" in parliament.

Ohanyan mentioned in his speech that Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression, the occupation of Artsakh territories, and the invasion of sovereign Armenian territories by Azerbaijan pose a serious threat to the loss of Armenia's sovereignty and to the self-determination and existence of Artsakh in its historical territory under international law.

"It is clear that even after the war, having all the tools to assess the situation and the actions of its own team, the government still does not address these important issues of demarcation and delimitation, trying in every possible way to organize a closed discussion and voting against the revised statement without proposing any new suggestions," Ohanyan stated.

He pointed out that sensitive issues should be discussed openly, and the authorities are avoiding making public what is happening behind the backs of the people, contrary to their commitment to accountability, arguing that they are negotiating whatever they want.

"Defeat and capitulation. The verbal withdrawal of troops after stopping the war is part of the continuous logic of surrendering strategic heights, roads, and establishing customs checkpoints. In other words, we learn about agreements only after the facts are accomplished. After a defeat, the victorious side intensifies external pressure on the defeated side," Ohanyan noted.

He emphasized that the advantages of parliamentary governance should be utilized to ensure that there is no pressure or agreements against the people's, national, and state interests, and that the government itself must turn to the opposition to prevent such phenomena. The executive must be accountable to parliament.

Ohanyan pointed out that the opposition is often unaware of many issues, especially regarding the meetings of the Security Council, while written and verbal agreements continue.

"You again insist, don't interrupt, we are negotiating what we want. Doubts among the public are deepening, and this genuinely leads to distrust," Ohanyan remarked.

He asserted that there is a demand to assess Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression, to carry out all agreements in accordance with the legislative procedures in Armenia, and not to take steps in the demarcation and delimitation process that could harm Artsakh and ensure the security, national and international guarantees of the state. They also demand to restore the army, strengthen and improve borders, and enhance relationships with strategic partners.
