Symptoms of Omicron Identified: How Does It Manifest?

There are more questions than answers about the new Omicron coronavirus variant, but some of its most characteristic symptoms are already known. Experts note that one distinguishing feature of the new variant is that, unlike previous versions of the coronavirus, it does not cause loss of taste or smell.

According to general practitioner Angelika Kootzee from South Africa, the characteristic symptoms of Omicron include fatigue and increased heart rate. Additionally, she states that the Omicron variant may cause a sore throat, which is not typical for COVID-19.

Another doctor from South Africa, Unben Pillay, points out that the new variant of the coronavirus is most reminiscent of the flu in its manifestations. Patients typically complain of high fever, body aches, and dry cough. Severe fatigue, which suddenly appears in the infected person, is also noted as a hallmark symptom of the new variant.

According to the specialist, if sudden fatigue appears, along with a sore throat and body aches, it is imperative to seek medical advice immediately. Under no circumstances should one attempt self-diagnosis or begin any medication on their own.
