Minister Discusses Vaccination and Omicron Variant Infections

According to the current information available, there have been no severe cases of illness or reduction in vaccine effectiveness reported among vaccinated individuals infected with the Omicron variant. This was stated by the Minister of Health of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, during a conversation with journalists.

The minister noted that research is still ongoing, and more consolidated information will be available within a week. “In the past year, we have seen that vaccinations protect us and are safe; no extraordinary cases have been recorded in Armenia, which is crucial,” said Anahit Avanesyan.

She mentioned that currently, the numbers of coronavirus infections in Armenia continue to decline, and everything must be done to maintain this low rate. The minister also urged the public to adhere to anti-epidemic rules. “Our daily figures are quite satisfactory, but we need to make up for the lost time we have had,” Anahit Avanesyan stated.

When asked whether a requirement for vaccination certificates or negative PCR test results to enter public dining and entertainment venues will come into effect on January 1, the minister indicated that this proposal is currently under discussion. “The government will approve the change in the decision following a general discussion,” Anahit Avanesyan emphasized.
