89-Year-Old Woman Beaten and Burned to Death by 36-Year-Old Granddaughter: Police Details

On December 3, at 5:30 AM, a report was received by the police department of Charentsavan from the Emergency Situations Service '911' indicating that a citizen had called to report smoke coming from an apartment on the 4th floor of building 10 in the second district of Charentsavan, along with the sounds of a child crying.

Upon arriving at the scene, the operatives of the investigative group identified the residents of the smoking apartment. After extinguishing the fire, the body of 89-year-old Roza Gyulumyan was discovered on the living room floor, charred and smoke-damaged.

Through coordinated operational-investigative and interrogation measures conducted by the police department of Kotayk Region, the Charentsavan department, and the Charentsavan investigative division of the Investigative Committee, it was established that Roza Gyulumyan was unlawfully deprived of life through beating and burning by her 36-year-old granddaughter. She has been presented to the investigative division of Charentsavan and has given a confession regarding the incident.

A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The 36-year-old woman has been arrested. An investigation is ongoing.
