Former Head of Police State Protection Department Arrested

Vardan Minasian, who served as the head of the Police State Protection Department from 2015 to 2016, has been arrested by court order today. This was confirmed in a conversation with 24 News by the Anti-Corruption Committee.

It is noteworthy that the high-ranking police official is accused of organizing embezzlement of especially large sums in collaboration with the head of a subordinate unit and laundering money.

Minasian reportedly collected money from the heads of subordinate units and instructed others to deposit the funds into bank accounts opened in his name, thereby attempting to distort their origin.

According to reports, 1.6 million dollars and 9,400 euros were deposited into Vardan Minasian's bank accounts.
