Attacks Against Armenians in Artsakh are Systematic, Says Armenian Foreign Ministry
On December 3, during agricultural work near the village of Chartar in the Martuni region of Artsakh, Seyran Smbat Saroyan, a resident of Chartar, was captured and deliberately killed by Azerbaijani units. This was announced by the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
The Ministry strongly condemns and considers unacceptable the killing of a civilian by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, carried out with gross violations of international humanitarian law.
It is noteworthy that the attacks and acts of terror against the Armenian civilian population of Artsakh are becoming systematic, which is the result of official Baku’s unjustifiable justifications for similar crimes previously committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, leading to a repetition of such behavior.
Recently, the crimes committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the civilian population of Artsakh are a continuation of the policy of hatred towards Armenians and ethnic cleansing designed to depopulate Artsakh, which once again demonstrates that guaranteeing the physical safety and right to life of Armenians in Artsakh is impossible under the jurisdiction or authority of Azerbaijan.
Proper investigation of these and previous attacks against the civilian population and holding the perpetrators accountable could create conditions to prevent similar crimes in the future.
