“The Authorities Are Essentially Acknowledging the Occupation of Armenian Territories”: Arman Abovyan

Former MP Arman Abovyan's statement: “A few words on the processes that demonstrate how the Armenian authorities are legitimizing the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Armenia by Azerbaijani forces.

This time, the discussion centers on the placement of Armenian checkpoints on the section of the Goris-Kapan road that is under the occupation of Azerbaijani military forces.

I will leave aside the fact that this step represents not only a supreme absurdity and a manifestation of fantastic state absurdity (who will control the Armenian checkpoints in the territory of Armenia?), but I will only note one point.

By establishing infrastructure characteristic of a state border in those areas of Armenia that are occupied by the enemy, the authorities of the Republic of Armenia are essentially acknowledging the detachment/occupation of Armenian territories as a legitimate act by Turkish-Azerbaijani occupying forces.

If anyone disagrees, I kindly ask you to present any legal agreement or document on the basis of which the authorities of the Republic of Armenia have decided to legitimize the partition of the Republic of Armenia, for example, in the occupied section of the Goris-Kapan highway.

Do you at least understand the seriousness of the situation and the prospects under this circumstance?”
