Liberation Movement Issues Statement
The Liberation Movement has issued a statement.
The Liberation Movement will continue its actions aimed at achieving the declared objectives. On November 21, 2021, it was announced that the liberation movement has commenced, with the goal to:
- Prevent anti-Armenian programs related to border delimitation and demarcation, including demanding the publication of signed documents;
- Not allow a corridor to be granted to the enemy;
- Demand that the Armenian authorities fully equip the frontline and protect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia.
Simultaneously, a protest gathering is called for November 22 at 5:00 PM in Republic Square, Yerevan. Public rallies and marches took place in Yerevan on November 22, 23, 24, 25, and 26.
According to a statement signed by representatives of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on November 26, a commission for delimitation and demarcation is created between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the advisory support of Russia. The signatory parties based their declaration on the provisions of the tripartite statement dated November 9, 2020, which have been violated to Armenia's detriment, specifically that Azerbaijani forces have not remained in their occupied positions but have advanced into the positions held by Armenian forces, even invading the sovereign territory of Armenia, and that prisoners of war and hostages have not been returned to their homeland. In November, soldiers have been killed at the frontline, and the process of delimitation and demarcation could lead to the undermining of the status of Artsakh.
During the rally on November 27 in Yerevan, the Liberation Movement presented demands for the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan and Armen Sarkissian, noting Pashinyan’s anti-national activities. The demand for Sarkissian’s resignation was raised since he did not uphold the Constitution during his tenure from 2018 to 2021, violating the constitutional obligation to protect the state’s national and public interests.
On November 28, members of the Liberation Movement undertook a pilgrimage on foot from Republic Square in Yerevan to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin for national unity, without political calls. Another rally took place on November 29 in Yerevan.
Throughout the rallies, representatives of the Liberation Movement voiced that opening roads with Azerbaijan without addressing security issues beforehand poses a threat to the people of Armenia. The Liberation Movement reports that:
- It will continue actions aimed at achieving the declared objectives, including further uniting compatriots around demands for the resignation of Nikol Pashinyan and Armen Sarkissian;
- The Liberation Movement is a non-partisan movement and is ready to cooperate with all political forces, civil society organizations, professional communities, and individuals;
