Car Crashes into Gas Pipeline and Ends Up in Gorge Due to Snow and Black Ice
On December 1, a car accident occurred in the Ararat region due to black ice on the roads. Around 17:50, a Volkswagen vehicle, traveling towards Vanadzor on the Yerevan-Vanadzor highway, veered off the road in the administrative area of Harthavan village. This was caused by heavy snowfall and the resulting black ice due to the road not being cleared. The vehicle collided with the supports of the gas pipelines and ended up in a gorge, on top of a concrete section of a drainage system.
According to shamshyan.com, fortunately, there were no reported injuries. An ambulance passing by stopped and offered assistance to the driver, but he indicated that he was alone and had not sustained any injuries.
The Road Police are currently investigating the identity of the driver. At present, heavy snow is falling in the area, and the road maintenance equipment has not carried out any work to treat the road with salt and sand.
