Blizzard in Shirak Province: Strong Winds and Snow Complicate Traffic

A blizzard is affecting Shirak Province. Continuous snowfall and strong winds have made traffic conditions difficult.

In the areas of Mantash, Jajur, Keti, Lanjik, and Vardaghbyur, snowdrifts have reduced visibility to as low as 70 meters. Interestingly, the snow is accompanied by thunder.

The situation is particularly severe in Ashotsk. Acting Head of the Urban Development Department of the Shirak Regional Administration, Khachik Khndzrtsyan, informed Sputnik Armenia that visibility on the roads in Ashotsk is down to 50 meters.

“The companies responsible for road services have begun operations. The condition of the roads is manageable, but the strong winds and snow are complicating the clearing efforts,” he stated.

The regional administration urges drivers to travel only if absolutely necessary and to use winter tires.
