Attention Citizens Traveling to Georgia: The 'Green Passport' System Starts Today
As of December 1, 2021, the 'Green Passport' system will come into effect throughout Georgia, according to the Armenian Embassy in Georgia.
Only individuals with a 'green status' will be able to visit the following establishments:
- Hotels and other accommodation venues
- Catering points (restaurants, cafes, bars—both open and closed spaces, including those in shopping centers)
- Cinemas, theaters, concert halls, entertainment centers, and casinos
- Spa and fitness centers
- Gondolas in mountain resort areas
The requirement for 'green status' does not apply to individuals under the age of 18.
'Green status' is granted if a person meets any of the following conditions:
- Fully vaccinated
- Has a negative PCR test result (in this case, the 'green status' is valid for 72 hours)
- Has a negative Antigen-rapid test result (in this case, the 'green status' is valid for 24 hours)
- Has recovered from COVID-19 within the last 6 months
'Green passports' include:
- A QR code obtained through registration in the 'CovidPass Georgia' application. The app can be downloaded via the following links: for iOS and for Android, through registration on the covidpass.moh.gov.ge website.
- Documents printed with the relevant QR code from vaccination centers, medical facilities, and Justice Houses in Georgia
- Documents printed by state institutions of EU member states and countries connected to the 'EU Digital COVID Certificate' system, which have the corresponding QR code
- Electronic documents issued by state institutions of EU member countries and countries connected to the 'EU Digital COVID Certificate' system that contain the relevant QR code
As of October 28, 2021, Armenia has joined the 'EU Digital COVID Certificate' system. Foreign citizens who have been vaccinated or have undergone a PCR test outside of Georgia and entered Georgia before December 1, 2021, are advised to use the 'CovidPass Georgia' application to obtain their 'green status'. During registration in the application, the system will use the information/documents provided by the citizen upon entering Georgia, as well as all data related to vaccination or PCR testing during their stay in Georgia.
It is important that during application registration, the citizen uses the same identification document number that was presented upon entry into Georgia. The citizen must also specify a special numeric code, which can be received at the email address or Georgian phone number provided during registration.
Citizens with vaccination documents from countries that are part of the 'EU Digital COVID Certificate' system are not required to use the 'CovidPass Georgia' application. They can use the same paper or electronic documents presented when entering Georgia. Alternatively, they can also opt to use the 'CovidPass Georgia' application. IT IS IMPORTANT that during application registration, the citizen uses the same identification document number that was presented upon entry into Georgia.
Citizens with vaccination documents from countries not connected to the 'EU Digital COVID Certificate' system can obtain 'green status' only after entering Georgia. Their status will be based on the information/documents presented upon entry. These citizens must download and register in the 'CovidPass Georgia' application after entering Georgia to obtain 'green status'. During registration, it is vital to use the identification document number presented upon entry into Georgia. The citizen must provide a special numeric code that can be obtained at the email address or Georgian phone number indicated during registration.
