Investigative Committee in the National Assembly to Address ‘Hayastan’ Pan-Armenian Foundation Issues

The newspaper ‘Hraparak’ reports that an investigative committee has been established in the National Assembly to examine the use of funds collected by the ‘Hayastan’ Pan-Armenian Foundation and transferred to the Armenian state budget, following the request of one-quarter of the parliament members a month ago. However, the composition of the committee was not approved, and meetings were not convened.

Yesterday, the Speaker of the National Assembly confirmed the committee's composition. The committee will be co-chaired by Artsvik Minasyan, the secretary of the ‘Hayastan’ faction. The members include representatives from the ‘Civil Contract’ party: Gevorg Papoyan, Babken Tunyan, Tsovinar Vardanyan, Arusyak Manavazyan, Hovik Aghazaryan, Arusyak Julhakyan, and Sergey Bagratyan, as well as Elinar Vardanyan and Tadevos Avetisyan from ‘Hayastan,’ and Hayk Mamijanyan from ‘We Have Honor’.

It is important to note that this concerns more than 52 billion drams collected during wartime, which have been transferred to the government. After the war, members of the foundation's board of trustees expressed criticisms that the funds have not been spent purposefully. President Armen Sarkissian, who is also the chairman of the board of trustees, demanded that a clear and transparent report on expenditures be presented. However, there was no substantial follow-up on this matter.
