Free Medical Care for the Country's Top Officials is Also a National Security Issue, Avanesyan

Providing medical assistance to the country's top officials is a necessary and correct approach. This was stated today, on November 30, during a conversation with journalists in the National Assembly by the Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia, Anahit Avanesyan, who addressed the question of how fair it is that the Prime Minister and President have personal doctors, while soldiers do not receive priority treatment.

She urged not to view the proposal for priority medical care for soldiers negatively in the same context as the provision of personal doctors for the Prime Minister, President, and the President of the National Assembly at the expense of the state budget.

“You are putting two unrelated concepts in the same context. Our soldiers and their family members receive medical assistance under privileged conditions, at their choice of which medical center to use,” said Avanesyan.

Regarding the free medical care for the country's top officials, she stated that this is also a matter of national security. “The top officials, as well as senior guests from other countries, should also have access to necessary medical assistance. This is an accepted and correct practice,” Avanesyan added.
