Azerbaijan Will Receive Turkmen Gas Through Iranian Territory: Aliyev

“We had a good conversation. As friends and brothers, we exchanged ideas on Iran-Azerbaijan relations. We agreed that from now on, Iran-Azerbaijan relations will develop in an upward trend across all sectors. Our peoples are brotherly peoples, our countries are brotherly countries, and the issues discussed today once again demonstrate that Iran-Azerbaijan relations are at a very high level,” said Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in an interview with Iranian media, as reported by the Azerbaijani news outlet Haqqin.

In response to a journalist's question about the document signed in the presence of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran, Aliyev stated, “This is a historic document that shows how deep the Azerbaijan-Iran connections are. Azerbaijan will receive Turkmen gas through Iranian territory. This is a good foundation for trilateral cooperation. The signed document is also important from the perspective of economic and energy security.”

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, for his part, emphasized that this document is aimed at developing relations between the two countries.
