Facebook Begins Mass Deletion of Monte's Photos Due to Azerbaijanis, Says Karen Vrtanesyan
The coordinator of the specialized website Razm.Info, Karen Vrtanesyan, reports that due to the Azerbaijanis, Facebook has started to delete Monte's pictures en masse and block the profiles of those who post them. The Azerbaijanis have managed to convince Facebook moderators that Monte is supposedly a 'dangerous person' and that his image promotes terrorism.
“I am sure you remember how in April 2018, they crafted a propaganda campaign comparing Nikol with Monte over a minor scratch on Nikol’s face. Three years later, because of some maneuverings by Azerbaijanis, Facebook has begun to delete Monte's pictures en masse and block the profiles of those who publish them. The Azerbaijanis have succeeded in convincing the Facebook moderators that Monte is allegedly a 'dangerous person' and that his image promotes terrorism.
Questions arise:
Question A. What are the state structures of the Republic of Armenia doing to rectify this situation? Is the Ministry of Foreign Affairs involved, is the Ministry of High-Tech Industry involved, or any government agency? Do the authorities no longer care about Monte, or perhaps they are even pleased that his name and deeds are quickly forgotten?
Question B. Is there a non-governmental organization in Armenia that is busy censoring the posts of Armenian users on Facebook? If Facebook now considers Monte a 'dangerous person', does this mean you are also obliged to adhere to that rule, which means blocking those who write about Monte and deleting their posts? If so, let us know. If not, then what are you doing to rectify the situation and end this disgrace?
People and pages that have faced blocking or other restrictions in the recent days for posting pictures of Monte or writing about him include Razm.Info, Varuzhan Geghamyan, and Alen Ghulyan.
