Major Car Accident in Abovyan: Mercedes Knocks Down Gas Pipeline Column

Around 09:10, 25-year-old Arshak Ghukasyan, driving a Mercedes vehicle, collided with an iron column of a gas pipeline at the intersection of the Republic Avenue and Yerevan-Arzni highway in Abovyan city under yet unknown circumstances, knocking it down. Following that, he crashed into a parked VAZ 2106 belonging to 24-year-old Sargis Khachatryan and a VAZ 2121 owned by 22-year-old Slavic Harutyunyan.
The driver of the Mercedes was assisted by citizens and employees of a nearby chemical store to be extricated from the vehicle and was taken to the "Abovyan" medical center. As a result of the collision, the gas cylinder of the Niva was detached and thrown away, causing a fire to break out. However, the staff at the store managed to promptly prevent the spread of the flames and extinguish the fire.
The chemical store also sustained significant material damage.
