Private Soldier Arrested: Gor Abrahamyan

According to the statement released yesterday by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Armenia, taking into account the presumption of innocence, I inform you that on November 16, 2021, a criminal case was initiated regarding the loss of a combat position of the Armed Forces of Armenia and the capture of soldiers. A private soldier has also been involved as a defendant under Article 365, Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. At the time of the incident, he was tasked with observing the checkpoint, whose inaction and failure to fulfill his duties (including the use of weapons to defend the combat position) allowed enemy forces to approach and enter the combat position of the Armed Forces of Armenia. He was among the soldiers who failed to hold the position.

The prosecutorial authority also filed a motion in court to select arrest as a measure of restraint, which was granted yesterday evening.
