Criminal Charges Filed Against a Mayor in Armavir

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has announced that the pre-investigation of a criminal case concerning the illegal seizure of state or community property by a community leader has been concluded at the Armavir regional investigative department.

According to the data acquired during the investigation, the head of the Aygek community in the Armavir region, who has held the position since 1999, was aware that several residents of the community were illegally constructing greenhouses and residential houses on their agricultural land, yet intentionally took no measures to address the violations recorded by the oversight bodies.

Based on sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against the head of Aygek community under Article 315.2 of the RA Criminal Code (4 episodes). As a preventive measure, a non-leaving signature has been selected for him. The pre-investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to the prosecuting authority with a motion to confirm the accusatory conclusion and forward it to court.

Notice: The suspect in the alleged crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty in accordance with the procedures established by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia, through a legally enforceable court verdict.
