The Country Stands Before This Disaster, as the Rapid Armament of the Frontline Was Not Organized: Ohanyan
The Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem has effectively taken control of a large part of Artsakh and, by invading Armenian territory, is consolidating in advantageous positions. This was stated by Seyran Ohanyan, former Minister of Defense and leader of the 'Armenia' faction, during parliamentary hearings initiated by the 'Armenia' faction on the topic of demarcation and delimitation.
'The enemy is unilaterally implementing demarcation by seizing territories, especially in Syunik under the guise of unblocking roads to create a “Zangezur Corridor.” Meanwhile, the Armenian authorities handed over crucial strategic areas connecting Artsakh to Armenia, along with vital border points, to the adversary,' Ohanyan said.
According to him, the government refers to the internal use of the administrative-territorial division law and failed to take any steps towards the rapid establishment of defense and engineering structures in a timely manner. Ohanyan noted that the authorities did not implement the rapid armament process at the frontline, leaving the country facing today’s disaster.
The leader of the 'Armenia' faction emphasized that Armenia has no international obligation to go for demarcation based on any map that does not comply with international experience. Furthermore, both Artsakh and the occupied territories cannot be part of Azerbaijan. In this context, no representative of Armenia can reach a written or verbal agreement that infringes upon the fundamental rights of Artsakh and Armenia.
