Under What Conditions Will Serzh Sargsyan's Representatives Withdraw the Lawsuit Against Sukiasyan?
In the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, under the presidency of Judge Sergey Sahakyan, a hearing has begun regarding the lawsuit by the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan, against the government MP-oligarch Khachatur Sukiasyan related to the "Grzo" case.
According to a correspondent from "Factinfo", Sargsyan's representative Amram Makinyan noted that if the defendant’s side declares that Sukiasyan's statements are untrue and false, then the plaintiff side may withdraw the lawsuit, to which the defendant's side refused.
Serzh Sargsyan's representative Vahagn Grigoryan presented the subject of the lawsuit, stating that they demand Khachatur Sukiasyan be compelled to verbally refute his statement during a live broadcast from the podium of the National Assembly, alleging that the third president of the Republic of Armenia has squandered over 100 million dollars in casinos in Baden-Baden, and in case this is impossible, to require Sukiasyan to disseminate a refutation text through a media outlet with at least 1000 copies distributed throughout the Republic.
The plaintiff side also demands that the National Assembly staff be compelled to publish a refutation through the official website of the National Assembly. Additionally, they are requesting 1 million AMD from Sukiasyan, which will be transferred to the Fund for the Insurance of Servicemen, and at the same time, the plaintiff does not oppose Sukiasyan independently transferring the money to the fund.
The representative of the National Assembly staff, Mery Mosinyan, submitted a motion requesting that the Republic of Armenia, represented by the National Assembly, be dismissed from the defendants, arguing that the National Assembly cannot be a proper defendant in this case. According to Mosinyan, this is a private dispute. Khachatur Sukiasyan's representative Anna Tonoyan joined the motion, stating that the Republic of Armenia is not a proper defendant either.
The plaintiff side objected to the motion. After hearing the parties, the court rejected the motion, citing it as baseless.
It should be reminded that a lawsuit was filed against Khachatur Sukiasyan in court, demanding a refutation of information that tarnishes the honor and good reputation of the third President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan. The basis for the lawsuit was Sukiasyan's statement made on August 25 from near the podium of the National Assembly, claiming that "the third president has squandered over 100 million dollars in casinos." In this case, both Khachatur Sukiasyan and the Republic, represented by the National Assembly staff, are named as defendants.
