Who Should Not Receive the Second Dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine
Who should not receive the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine? This frequently asked question has been addressed by the National Center for Disease Control and Prevention.
“An absolute contraindication for vaccinations against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is anaphylaxis or a severe allergic reaction that occurred after the previous dose of the vaccine. If there was a local reaction (pain, stiffness, swelling, redness) or a general reaction (high fever, general weakness, muscle pain, joint pain) after the first dose, then receiving the second dose is indicated.”
