Send an 'SOS Armenia' Letter to All Capitals: Arman Abovyan

Former MP Arman Abovyan has written: “Let us acknowledge that very dangerous regional processes continue to be generated around Armenia and Artsakh. I believe this is clear to everyone, even to the 'hardcore' power-hunters who suffer from the delusion of 'peace'.”

“I will not dwell on the simple fact that the current authorities, which are supposedly 'super-skilled', are responsible for this situation. However, let me make a couple of observations for all of us, since it is pointless to address or urge the authorities to act under the logic of national interests. They are wearing 'steel' headphones and are incapable of understanding anything. Regardless... look, we already know that on December 15, a meeting of the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan is expected to take place in 'Europe'. But what agenda the meeting will have is unclear. The authorities haven’t uttered a word about it, and that is very, very, very concerning because apart from convincing, beautiful, lengthy speeches about 'bright futures', they are incapable of anything else. If they are silent now, it means the situation is dire.”

“I say this without sarcasm, as the deterioration of the situation will primarily impact the people, while they will always find some new 'culprit' to blame. Now see... Azerbaijan has clearly stated, and Turkey has indirectly but clearly announced that if Armenia does not agree to provide a 'corridor' linking Turkish and Azerbaijani logistics through Syunik, Azerbaijan will definitely start a new war aimed at breaking through the 'corridor'. In other words, if Armenia does not agree to be voluntarily partitioned, meaning giving Syunik to the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, they will do it using force.”

“Once again, I remind our 'proud citizens' that the Turkish-Azerbaijani horde is either asking us to voluntarily head towards regional suicide ('corridor'), or they will force us to do it with the use of force. It sounds absurd, but in reality, this is the reality in which we exist. I want to specifically emphasize that what I have written does not exaggerate the colors when describing the actual regional situation we all find ourselves in; on the contrary, I am expressing myself a bit mildly to spare the 'velvet' nerves of some.”

“Nevertheless, all the so-called 'deep games' attempted by the Pashinyan administration to somehow escape from the dire prospects of the current situation are so primitive and ineffective that one is simply astonished at the lack of political thought prevailing under the authority's actions. I also understand what fear the authorities are in, as they truly understand the disastrous consequences their politics have brought about, yet I am genuinely surprised that knowing all this, the authorities do not attempt to do something to prevent the complete eradication of the country.”

“Perhaps they are counting on major regional players (Russia, Iran, the U.S., and Europe) for whom the strengthening of the Turkish factor is also unacceptable... I honestly don’t know, but if that is the case, and Armenia is merely going to watch from the sidelines as 'conditional giants' decide its future (the real future, not the meaningless slogan of 'The Future is Here'), then where are you headed; send an 'SOS Armenia' letter to all capitals, perhaps someone will pay attention.”

“Joking aside, the situation is actually extremely tense, and no one can say what developments will occur. For us, the choice is now between the bad and the worse, and this is the most terrifying.”

...and don’t forget, 'The Future is Here', enjoy.”
