Child Mortality Rates Decrease in Armenia, Says Armen Muradyan
Child mortality rates are decreasing in Armenia, thanks to the selfless work of healthcare workers, stated Armen Muradyan, rector of Yerevan State Medical University.
In the period from January to September 2021, 183 deaths of children aged 0-1 were recorded, which is 10 percent lower than both the previous year and the average from 2017-2020.
“A similar trend is observed in the mortality of children aged 0-4. Specifically, during the same period in 2021, there were 211 deaths recorded, which is 8 percent lower than in 2020 and 14 percent lower than the average over the previous four years,” Muradyan noted.
“It is clear that such results are primarily a consequence of the selfless work of healthcare workers, who consistently prioritize the medical assistance and care of the growing generation even under pandemic and overwork conditions,” added the rector of YSMU.
