19-Year-Old Suren Killed in Azerbaijani Aggression Last Year Joined the Army
On the day before yesterday, 19-year-old Suren Safaryan from the village of Norabak in the Gegharakunik region was fatally injured by gunfire resulting from Azerbaijani aggression. He was from the Alagyaz community in the Aragatsotn region and was of Yazidi ethnicity. Upon completing his military service, he had intended to pursue higher education.
Jasım Mahmoudov, the head of the Alagyaz community, informed “Factinfo” that Suren was drafted into the army last year, and he was nearing the end of his one-year service. “This sad news affects the entire nation. Suren did not perish merely for himself or the people of Alagyaz, but for the state. We bow our heads in respect before someone of Suren’s stature,” he stated.
Suren was the youngest child in a large family. His parents worked in agriculture to provide a decent life for their children. “Suren had two married sisters, and he had three older brothers. He was the youngest son serving in the army. Before him, two of his brothers had also served, one of whom participated in the 44-day war. Suren was born in 2002. He was calm, well-regarded in his community, and had many goals. His parents are also calm and sensible people, farmers who are managing their family’s affairs,” said the mayor.
Suren was planning to continue his studies after military service, but he had not yet made a final decision regarding his profession, having one year left to make that decision. “He was thinking about education after his service. This was one of the family’s goals, but serving the homeland was a priority and a necessary condition,” the community leader added.
It is noteworthy that on November 22, at approximately 18:10, Azerbaijani Armed Forces units opened fire with firearms of various calibers at Armenian positions located near the village of Norabak in the Gegharakunik region, resulting in the fatal gunshot wound of Private Suren Yuriki Safaryan (born 2002), a conscript from the Armenian Ministry of Defense's N military unit.
