VIDEO: Protest in Yerevan, Major Streets Blocked

Citizens have blocked several major streets in Yerevan early this morning. They have presented important demands to Prime Minister Pashinyan, promising to escalate their actions into mass disobedience if these demands are not met.

A group of citizens has currently blocked the Victory Bridge, halting traffic and announcing via loudspeaker that a protest is scheduled for today at 5 PM in Republic Square.

Interethnic issues expert Nairi Hokhikyan wrote on Facebook: “Fellow countrymen, the liberation movement has begun, aimed at preventing an anti-Armenian program of delimitation and demarcation, including demands to publish the documents submitted for signing, to disallow the granting of a corridor to the enemy, and to demand that the Armenian authorities fully arm the frontline and defend the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia. Our struggle is for the preservation of the Armenian statehood. The security of our country is in the hands of each one of us, from Syunik to Tavush, Shirak to Artsakh. On November 22, at 5:00 PM, we gather in Republic Square in Yerevan to stand for our country and our statehood. #liberation_movement”
