‘My people, will you stand up for 50 drams or will you again allow the destruction of your Homeland?’ – Gevorg Tamamyan
Gevorg Tamamyan, co-founder of the ‘5165’ movement and head of the Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center in Armenia, wrote on his Facebook page:
“My people, will you stand up for 50 drams,
My people, who kill each other in line,
You, who are ready to plunge a knife into the abdomen of your fellow countryman for the sake of honking your horn,
And at every opportunity getting drunk to toast the Homeland and the Heroes,
But bowing your head before an insolent politician and forgiving a destructive official...
My people, who stand up for a park,
Who are now silent,
When parks have become and are becoming thousands of your best children:
My blind people,
My silent people,
When a soldier stands unprotected under the open sky to defend you...
Will you stand up, my people,
Or will you again allow the destruction of your Homeland...
Stand up, people!”
